Sony Dual Alarm Clock Radio September 3, 2010 Paticakes As others have already stated, this is a wonderful clock radio to have with the dual alarm features. The back-up battery is a real plus when the electricity goes out. The radio sound is OK; it is not the best but suffices. It is worth the price just for the dual alarms and back-up battery features.
A clock that can't decide what time it is.... August 20, 2010 Erin P. Manott I got this alarm clock one year ago to replace an old alarm clock that had seen better days. It does everything it should: decent quality radio, TWO alarms (very handy for us busy college students), and automatically found and set the time even after the power went out in a storm.
The only problem I had realized was that the timing mechanism in the clock seems to be just a little bit, well, off. After a few months of having the alarm clock, I noticed that in comparison with my cell phone and my laptop, the clock was running about 3 minutes fast. No problem, I'll always be a little early. A year after purchase, the too fast problem has steadily increased and my clock is now 12 minutes faster (and not getting any better). I was able to override the automatic time set feature, but the problem keeps coming back. The timing mechanism in the alarm clock is simply wrong and I am now in the market again for a new alarm clock and all too soon at that!
On time and on the money. August 20, 2010 Doug Egan (NJ, USA) Having broken my old alarm, I needed a replacement Quickly, Amazon to the rescue. Went to the site, ordered it and had it in four days.
The numerical display is bright and easy to read. The dual alarms are great. They're easy to set (forward or backward) and easy to activate or deactivate. The "On" indicators are clear. And while the "chirp" volumn could be louder, it is quite adequite and becomes more rapid the longer it is on. The radio quality is very good for such a compact unit. The time self sets out of the box aand has battery back up in case of power outage. This all came at a great price. Overall I give this product a "great".
works for 2 years; now just a clock August 15, 2010 thia (Miami, FL) I brought this about 2 years ago as my primary alarm clock from a store and it setup automatically even though it was about 7 minutes faster than actual time. I left it since 7 minutes faster gives me extra minutes in the morning but over the years, it was 15 minutes faster than actual time until it malfunction this morning. I woke up and it was ~09:15 and I could not believe I was so tire that I slept more than an hour after my usual wakeup time. Thought I might be coming down with something so I went back to sleep; thank goodness it's Sunday because when I actually got out of bed and made my cup of coffee, I noticed my other clock said 09:03. My Dream Machine was somehow 1 hour and 15 minutes faster than my other clocks.
I got hold of the online maual and I'm still trying to resolve the issue but it's stuck on 12:00pm or 1:00pm DST and it's in timezone 1; it's 4:30pm EST on my 3rd try to reset it. I replaced the battery and no dead battery indicator light came.
Update...seems when it malfunctioned, it cancelled the factory setting so there is no automatic time set. I set the clock manually. Let see when the next malfunction will happen. I no longer trust this clock as my alarm clock but I'll use it as a "clock".
Ok ease is more like a 4 if you read manual for it when you need to change something or know how to use this bad boy August 5, 2010 SYN Wrath (USA) I am a HEAVY sleeper yes it take's some adjusting and learning NOT to hit snooze as it will up it each hit up to 60 mins so thats not so cool and wish I could change it so it won't do that but still not horrible. The off button for alarm is on alarm b side above the snooze button and has off imprinted in it and is a tiny bit bigger and slopes in so it over time can be figure'd out which one you hit to shut it off if. Also alarm snooze will be over righted if you set the other for 15 mins past the first and use the dual alarm set up thus making it harder to over sleep as the first snooze is 10 mins by 5 mins past that even the hard to wake up one's will wake up esp if alarm b is set 15 mins past to radio on full blast. Alarm beep sound is alright not annoying but it work's. Switch for it low or high on alarm A time adjuster. DST is hard to figure out with manual and google. I am PST so it's 5 and it will supposedly auto DST for me as I set time zone and date and year for mine but I won't know for a little bit still. But if I ever sleep that day I will know. :) Never had issues resetting or with battery, but it won't work with out the battery correctly. So if your light come's on replace the battery and read manual too as it has step's you need to take when this happens. But mine is 2 yrs old maybe more and been unplugged, and replugged in and never had an issue. Also I never had it do the alarm while unplugged as when I want to store it I turn them off and remove the battery. The last time I forgot that part and so for a few months it has had the battery in it and using it right now no issues yet. For radio antenna is in the power cord try adjusting it to make the radio work better. Also be sure you set up the snooze sleep set up for 90-15 mins to auto shut off radio after you fall asleep so the alarm will help wake you up esp with hard sleepers. All this is in the manual or I figured it out myself playing with it when we got it. I also paid $12-$15 for it and still super pleased with all I get for it. Even brightness adjuster for less bright at night low that as does hubby.
Manual can be found from sony online just google the model number amazon won't allow it in my review.
Good luck and enjoy of you buy it I know I do. I also have had like 12 alarm clocks in 20 yrs or less and this is by far the best one for the price yet. I know target had them in stock usually and cheap or amazon had sales on them too.
